Why I love the La Canada Farmer’s Market

We have a variety of Los Angeles Farmer’s Markets to choose from, but the La Canada Farmers Market is my favorite. It is easy to navigate, and I shop with purpose. Although the market opens at 9 AM, most of the vendors are ready to conduct business by 8 AM. At this early hour, parking is easy, and there are no crowds. If I leave my home at 8 am, I return home at 8:30.

I begin with the local honey combers and their honey sticks, which are much less expensive than at the grocery store and perfect for keeping on hand for a scratchy throat. Then there’s the French baker…. why would anyone buy grocery store bread? He also sells ham and cheese croissants – the perfect lunch. Next door is the cheese lady who sells an incredible truffle and pecorino cheese; sometimes, I slice a bite with a pear for breakfast.

Moving down the aisle is the lettuce and orchid man. The orchids are for some of my real estate listings. The lettuce he sells is on the root and lasts two weeks in your refrigerator. If you shop at any of our local farmer’s markets, you know that throwing away fruit and vegetables is a thing of the past. Everything is so fresh.

Of course, there are farm-fresh eggs, berries, fruit, vegetables, and herbs. After my basket is full, I purchase my Saturday cappuccino and head home to start my weekend.

Until next week – La Canada Farmers Market!
