Descanso Gardens Story Time

Parents and their children ages 2 and older are invited to participate in this nature-themed story time, held at Nature’s Table in the gardens. Picture books are read aloud by Descanso staff.

Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club,

Friday – Sunday The Details:

For 52 consecutive years, the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club has organized and produced the Watermelon Festival. Watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests, carving demonstrations, coronation of the Watermelon Queen, rides, games, and the ever-popular Watermelon-O-Matic slicing machine await you! $5) for general admission.  Admission includes live music, entry to food court, and all-you-can-eat watermelon slices. The longest-running and largest nonprofit festival in Southern California Watermelon Festival.

China Town Nights

Taste the many culinary offerings of Chinatown and LA’s gourmet food trucks; watch Chinese chefs perform cooking demonstrations; experience large-scale, outdoor video projections; take part in hands-on, Chinese cultural activities presented by local organizations and museums; sip on craft brews and dance in Central Plaza with  DJ’s.


A Faery Hunt

As the audience makes their way through the forest, they actually become part of the story. The shows are for children, and the young-at-heart. Tickets for the show and party are $25.00 per person.
