In June 2021, the highest-priced Pasadena home sale was the Allen House by architects Johnson, Kaufmann & Coate.  In 1919, Coate joined Reginald Johnson and Gordon Kaufmann.  These architects also designed the Hale Observatory, St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles and All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.
By 1925, the firm had disbanded, and the architects then worked on their own.

Located at 870 South San Rafael Avenue in Pasadena, this home was originally listed for $7,495,000. It sold in 421 days for $7,150,000. The sellers just purchased this home in May 2019 for $7,053,100. At the time of the seller’s purchase, the home was just on the market for 13 days before opening escrow.
