Architect Barry Berkus custom designed and built this estate in 1966 on a nearly 31,000 sq. foot flat lot in La Canada Flintridge. This four-bedroom, 4.5-bath contemporary craftsman retreat, made of redwood and glass, is a rare Zen oasis. Upon entering through the gate, you enter a tranquil space with a large living room, high ceilings, a unique fireplace, and a wet bar.

The backyard features a 50-foot pool, spa, guest house with loft bedroom, sauna, and kitchenette. Additionally, there’s an office/gym/pool house with a fireplace, greenhouse, and workshop with storage, including a walk-in wine cellar. The main house includes a Life Source Water Filtration system, granite counters, and premium Sub Zero / Wolf appliances.

On the first floor, there is a private wing with its own entrance that accommodates three bedrooms, each equipped with en-suite full bathrooms and spacious closets. Among these bedrooms, two feature built-in desks and bookshelves. Moving upstairs, a floating library/office offers scenic views of the property. The master suite has a sitting area, TV, fireplace, walk-in cedar closets, luxury bath featuring a skylight, double shower, soft tub, and another TV.

This estate, highlighting Berkus’ innovative designs and modernist principles, is a haven for entertainers. Berkus regarded it as a personal masterpiece among his extensive portfolio.
