Break-ins have escalated in my La Canada neighborhood and although I have two German Shepherds, I wanted more security. Ring and Nest doorbells allow you to know who’s at your doorstep from your phone. They are designed to show you everything at your front door — both people and packages on the ground. We opted for the Nest doorbell. In addition to checking in live, we can go back and view the history for several days.
With our Nest doorbell we also had the extra Nest cameras installed. We hired an electrician to install the Nest doorbell and cameras. Our family can easily monitor the front door, the back yard, patio, front yard, driveway and street – all from our phones. My home office is an attached guest house in the backyard. When my dogs bark, I can simply check my phone to make sure it’s nothing more than a Fed-ex delivery.

Some smart home technology such as these tech doorbells are surprisingly simple to use. Bit by bit, my family may just get a smart home after all!
