What’s The Favorite Room In Your Home?

pasadena homes for sale

George and I moved into our home 18 years ago.  At the time our La Canada home was a fixer with “good bones”.  We didn’t need to knock down walls, it just really cried out for updating.  But I could see the potential and that’s what we bought.  When purchasing a home it’s important to gauge where you will be tomorrow.  A home should be grown into – not out of. Initially my favorite room was a small den/study off the entry.  During large family gatherings it was a quiet place I could escape with my favorite cousin, and we could visit one on one.  In the evenings after my daughters were finished with homework and settled, it was a quiet space where I could relax with a glass of wine and return calls to clients.

Not sure why but my study, is now rarely used.  As my daughters are grown, I don’t require that same sense of calm.  Now, my favorite “room” of my home is my patio.  There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting on a chaise lounge with a book or magazine and relaxing after a long day.  Sadly, the weather has cooled, it gets dark earlier, and my favorite “room” is no longer welcoming.

Real estate is much more than a bedroom and bathroom count. Your home is where you and your family begin each day. Our family home is where many of our fondest memories were made (nearly two decades of waking up Christmas morning and unwrapping gifts, nearly two decades of Thanksgiving dinners, countless sleepovers, barbecues and pool parties).

What’s your favorite room?  Is it the kitchen where you gather to prepare a meal?  The family room where you watch the big game?
