Staging your front porch to sell

As there is so much newer construction in Glendale, La Canada, Burbank, Altadena and Toluca Lake, many homeowners enter their home through their attached garage. As such they don’t really get a good look at their front porch from a visitor’s perspective.  Once curb appeal is addressed, focus on staging your front porch to sell.

Your front porch is where the buyer will be waiting to gain access to your home. It could be seconds or minutes. Let’s make a good first impression. Obviously, it should be clean. If you have light fixtures make sure the glass is sparkling and replace any burnt out bulbs. Polish or replace hardware as needed. Do not overlook address numbers and mailboxes.

Consider painting your front door. Which colors are used on the doors for similar homes in your neighborhood?  Certain cultures love red front doors. The front door, known as the “Mouth of Chi” allows energy to enter.  Feng Shui, followers believe that painting your front door red creates welcoming energy. Ask your Realtor for her paint color recommendation.

If you have room add some plants.  Don’t overcrowd and remove dead leaves and blooms. When staging your front porch to sell, finish it off with a fresh doormat.
