Maximize the Lighting in your home

By following these proactive steps, you will maximize the lighting in your home:

Start by having your windows washed and removing screens. Dirty windows obstruct light, so when we list a home, we instruct the window washer to remove the screens and store them in the garage.

Maintain light interiors by opting for white walls, light wood furniture, flooring, and light upholstery. If you wish to keep your existing dark furniture and floors, enhance the brightness by using white or light slipcovers on your upholstered furniture, and place light-colored rugs. Consider painting the walls in creamy white or dove gray for an added touch.

Upgrade your lighting by changing your bulbs to LEDs, which emit a bright, white light. This is a straightforward and cost-effective way to enhance the lighting in your home. Ensure you choose the right bulb by following these guidelines:

Select a bulb with a higher K rating (3,500K to 4,100K) for cool, white light.
Opt for a bulb rated between 5,000K and 6,500K for a blue-white light resembling natural daylight.

Harness the power of mirrors to maximize the lighting in your home.  Alternatively, create a bright atmosphere by hanging a gallery wall of small mirrors.

Replace heavy curtains with blinds or Roman shades to allow the maximum amount of natural light into the room. While fabric curtains provide insulation, they can block sunlight and make a room feel smaller. Consider Roman shades paired with blinds for a more open and well-lit ambiance. If privacy is not a concern, a valance alone may suffice.
