Friday night at the Gamble House – Sake Tasting Meher McArthur, a Japanese art historian and former Curator of East Asian Art at the Pacific Asia Museum, will lead a short slide lecture exploring the cultural history of sake. She will discuss the art forms inspired by the drink, explain its production process, and share proper techniques for enjoying it. Following the lecture, guests will enjoy a guided tasting of sake varieties currently available in the United States. The event will be held at 4 Westmoreland Place in Pasadena.

This Saturday and Sunday, the 2026 San Gabriel Lantern Festival brings a dazzling display of lights and culture to the Mission District. Expect an array of grand lantern installations, food stalls, and local shopping vendors, all paired with live performances throughout the weekend. On select Saturdays, Jessica from Carmela Ice Cream will share her secrets and tricks of the trade for making incredible ice cream at home using real, seasonal ingredients. The classes are demonstration-based at the Pasadena creamery. The spring classes will focus on two of Carmela’s most popular flavors: Lavender Honey Ice Cream and Raspberry Rose Sorbet. Hamid Rahmanian’s Song of the North is an epic love story featuring 483 handmade puppets and a talented ensemble of actors and puppeteers, all coming together to create powerful theater for young minds ready to explore heroism, heritage, and imaginative storytelling. Butterfly Season at Kidspace Children’s Museum: Take the family to a celebration of butterflies and pollinators at Kidspace Children’s Museum, through May 17. Children can engage with nature while exploring the habitats and life cycles of butterflies and other pollinators through hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs. Kids can test their creature-spotting skills on a Bug Safari, create a caterpillar out of clay and add seeds to watch it sprout at home, or dress up like a butterfly and spread their wings in a fantasy flutter-by. They can also take a spin on the interactive art installation, Los Trompos. There is plenty for your little love bug to explore, so bring the family and see what the buzz is about.

Old Pasadena Food Tasting Walking Tour every Saturday and Sunday. Presented by Melting Pot Food Tours, this guided walk explores hidden alleys and historic streets in search of delicious multicultural bites and sweet treats. Discover the rich stories behind each dish and meet passionate local merchants along the way. The tour begins at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Holly Street.

Wine tastings every weekend at Rosso Wine Shop. The general theme is “Try Three Wines for $12.” Start with a white wine, then move on to two reds. Typically, the second wine is light to medium-bodied, followed by a fuller selection to finish the tasting. Meanwhile, new wines are featured each weekend, which keeps the experience fresh. Guests can also order wine by the glass or choose from a variety of beers. The tasting takes place at 3459 N. Verdugo Rd. in Glendale.
